Fund Manager for My Family

After attending Millionaire Investor, I officially became the “fund manager” for the family. Not only have I benefited, my spouse has also obviously benefited from it. Just a few days ago, I showed my hubby his portfolio. Here’s our conversation:

Me: “Nah, your portfolio. To date, made about 8k plus since 2011.” (Showed him his portfolio on my iPhone)

Hubby: “Wah so much…”
Me: “Yah, while you are working, watching TV, sleeping, playing mahjong and golf, your CPF has another $10k.”
Hubby: “Where got $10k?”
Me: “Including your dividends, see… (showed him his online CPF statement for 2011 and 2012). Negative figure means they were invested into stocks. Positive figures are the dividends collected – about $2.5k in 2 years. So total $10k.”

Hubby: “How come there’s a sum of $7.8k into the special account?”
Me: “Remember I asked you to liquidate your special account investment because it’s losing money?” (Showed him the statement in 2010)

Hubby: “Oh, I didn’t realize lost so much, from $10k to $7.8k.”
Me: “Actually much more as SA gives you 4% risk-free. This means you lost another $400. While fortunately, there’s a more competent fund manager in the house. Aiyah, I didn’t collect management fee.”
Hubby: “….”

I was ignorant before 2010. During the 2009 Subprime Crisis, I asked my hubby to invest $10k from his Special Account with my financial advisor. I thought it was a great time to invest during a crisis. Even after more than a year, that fund is not performing. Results don’t lie and to date, I still think the best investment I’ve made after the Subprime Crisis was to attend the Millionaire Investor Program.
